Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer said he does not think voters care about stellar job numbers and tax cuts.
As the Washington Examiner reports, following the release of the newest jobs report for the month of October which showed a 250,000 new jobs were created, Schumer said the report “may look good” but presumed, “these numbers will mean little.”
“The latest jobs numbers may look good but we must not forget they coexist with a huge deficit-ballooning GOP tax break that went mainly to the wealthy for which we will pay a price for down the road,” Schumer said, per the report. “When the average family sees their health care costs go up because of Republican actions, these numbers will mean little.”
More Americans getting back to work means little to Schumer? This sounds like Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi’s “crumbs” comment about millions of Americans getting thousands back in tax cuts.
Here’s more on Schumer, per TownHall:
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) downplayed the phenomenal job numbers released Friday. The Bureau of Labor Statistics report revealed that 250,000 jobs were added to the economy in October and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.7 percent, the lowest its been since December 1969.
As Townhall also reports, Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist at the job website Glassdoor.com said the new jobs report “is a landmark in the long recovery since the Great Recession.”
Chamberlain added that the report shows “the power of a tight labor market to raise pay for American workers if allowed to run hot for a sufficiently long time.”
Former economic advisor for both Obama and Biden, Jared Bernstein, admitted the report was “pretty much everything you could want.
“Payroll gains way better than expected, nice pop in labor force participation, wage growth continues to strengthen, finally beating inflation (real gains!). Score 1 for ‘room-to-run’ crowd!” Bernstein added.
An incredibly consequential congressional election is just days away as President Trump and Republicans are looking to maintain their majorities in Congress. Should they succeed, they are promising to continue to make America great again through the passage of additional tax cuts, reforming entitlements and healthcare, and the full funding of a southern border wall.
Should Democrats succeed, given Schumer’s comments, then Americans will likely see the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act completely repealed. As for more jobs in America? The historic growth under Trump speaks for itself.
