An altercation between politically-minded students at Florida State University has resulted in a battery charge.
The incident took place on Thursday when a liberal student began yelling at another group of students on the school grounds who were supporting the Republican Party. The liberal female student argued with the group of males before she threw her chocolate milk drink at one of the students.
Florida State University said in a statement over social media that the female student was “identified, arrested, and charged with battery.”
“FSU expects each member of the community to embrace the values of civility and ethical conduct and obey the law,” the school tweeted Friday morning. “Regarding Tuesday’s incident, the individual was identified, arrested and charged with battery.”
The Daily Caller has more on the altercation and the individuals involved:
Police records obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation identified the student who allegedly threw the drink as Shelby Shoup and stated she turned herself in Thursday.
“[Kathryn] Judge [the complainant] advised that she was volunteering at a Republican party table on Landis Green when she was approached by a female who began yelling at her and then pouring chocolate milk on her on two separate occasions,” police records said. “Judge had a large chocolate milk stain on her shirt.”
“Her given name is Kathryn but she goes by Daisy,” FSU College Republicans told TheDCNF.
The incident was recorded and uploaded to social media by Courtland Culver. It was later shared by the university’s College Republicans chapter. The video contains several expletives and can be found by clicking here.
Here’s a transcription of the video, provided by Fox News:
Shoup threw her drink on SFU College Republicans Vice-Membership Chair, Daisy Judge, and when another student passing by tried to de-escalate the situation, she threw the remainder of her drink on him, according to a statement released by the College Republicans at FSU.
“You are supporting Nazis,” Shoup said in the video posted online. “Do you understand that?”
Another student snapped back at the girl wearing a communist pin: “And you are supporting communism?”
She replied: “Yeah, I f***ing am.”
“Don’t pour your coffee on me,” he said.
But Shoup replied, “F*** you. I will,” before she opened her chocolate milk and threw it on him.
In the final seconds of the video, the female student walks away and kicks a Ron DeSantis yard sign out of the ground. DeSantis is the Republican gubernatorial candidate in the state of Florida.
Fox News also reports the female student serves as an intern for Andrew Gillum, the Democrat gubernatorial candidate in the state:
The far-left student activist who had the profanity-laced meltdown, Shelby Shoup, is listed as an intern for the Andrew Gillum for Florida Governor Campaign on LinkedIn and a member of FSU Students for Justice in Palestine. Gillum’s campaign did not return a Fox News request for comment.
