Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing former pornstar Stormy Daniels in a case against President Trump, has shown a willingness to compete against Trump and may do so on the national stage in 2020.
During an interview with MSNBC, Avenatti shared that he had not yet made a decision as to whether he would run or not.
As the Washington Examiner reports, when Avenatti was asked how serious he was considering a run, he answered: “Well, my consideration is very serious. I have not made a decision yet. I’ve been to over 15 states in the last couple months — gauging reaction, helping raise money for Democrats.”
The attorney has depicted himself as a champion of women and said women would not go out to the polls to show their support for President Trump.
Per the report:
Recently, Avenatti has been on the campaign trail with Democrats and plans to continue up to the 2018 midterm elections.
Avenatti said Trump would be hard to beat in 2020, and that Democrats cannot expect to meet him with a “message of puppies and daisies,” but instead need to prepare for a “brutal campaign.”
Avenatti said that he doesn’t believe women are going to support Trump when he runs for reelection in 2020.
“I don’t think they’re going to support him [Trump] in the same degree they did last time,” Avenatti said. “I think that his misogyny is wearing thin, but ultimately, I don’t think he’s going to change his conduct.”
Avenatti was repeatedly critical of Trump and called him a “problem” only solvable by “removing him from office.”
“This is a man who has been demeaning women his whole adult life,” Avenatti said, per the Washington Examiner. “The only way we are going to solve this problem is defeating him and removing him from office.”
The lawyer would join what is expected to be a crowded Democrat primary field. Other Democrats who are being considered for a 2020 run include former Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State John Kerry, and even Hillary Clinton. The running list of Democrats potentially considering a bid has topped 30 people.
Following the comments, several women quickly took to social media to express their support for Trump:
Wrong. I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016, but the crap behavior we’ve seen from the left ever since the election has ensured that I will in 2020.
