BREAKING: Second Migrant Caravan Has Reportedly Formed

The United States immigration crisis could be in for a rough couple of weeks as it is being reported that a second migrant caravan has formed.

The first caravan, which left Honduras just a couple weeks ago, began with a couple hundred people and has grown significantly. Since its inception, the caravan has traveled hundreds of miles, gained several thousand more members, and is still heading north. The caravan is estimated to be between 5,000 and 10,000 people at this point, Fox News reports.

While President Trump has promised to utilize the efforts of U.S. military members to deter or prevent the caravan’s entry into the U.S., it now appears the caravan is not the only one he will have to worry about.

Twitchy reports that a second migrant caravan has formed and is already 2,000 people strong.

From their report:

We’re seeing reports that a second caravan of migrants from Honduras has formed and is on the way to the United States:

Translation: I have reports of another caravan walking to Chiquimula. The borders are closed but people are still moving towards Guatemala. The Crisis continues. #CaravanaMigrante #CaravanaDeMigrantes

Fox News similarly reports that there is a second caravan heading for the U.S., though it reports the group to only be 1,000 people:

As the massive migrant caravan pushes toward the southern U.S. border, a second group of about 1,000 people from Honduras is rushing to join the main group — which reportedly has swelled its ranks with several people who’ve already been deported.

The caravan, which has around 5,000 to 7,000 members, was on the move again Monday morning, departing the southern Mexico city of Tapachula. The smaller group trailing it entered Guatemala from Honduras late Sunday, according to the Associated Press.

And, from another Fox News report:

The migrant caravan, which started out more than a week ago with less than 200 participants, has drawn additional people along the way and it swelled to an estimated 5,000 Sunday after many migrants found ways to cross from Guatemala into southern Mexico as police blocked the official crossing point.

Later in the day, authorities in Guatemala said another group of about 1,000 migrants had entered that country from Honduras.

In interviews along the journey, migrants have said they are fleeing widespread violence, poverty and corruption in Honduras. The caravan is unlike previous mass migrations for its unprecedented large numbers and because it largely began spontaneously through word of mouth.

Migrants received help Sunday from sympathetic Mexicans who offered food, water and clothing. Hundreds of locals driving pickups, vans and cargo trucks stopped to let them clamber aboard.
