If Rosie O’Donnell had her way, she says she would send the United States military into the White House to overthrow President Trump.
As the Daily Caller reports, O’Donnell made the utterly absurd comment during a panel discussion on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” with Nicolle Wallace.
The panel had been discussing O’Donnell’s return to the limelight after taking a year off to compose herself after she admitted to being distraught by Trump’s 2016 win.
Check out the exchange:
O’Donnell: “When he [Trump] was elected, what I wrote on Twitter was we should impose martial law until we make sure the Russians weren’t involved in the final tally of the votes.
Wallace: “And Bob Mueller indicted 13 Russians for election meddling.”
O’Donnell: “And people were like, ‘Martial law? What’s wrong with you? You are a lunatic.’”
Wallace: “He [Trump] wants to send the military to the border, so…”
O’Donnell: “I want to send the military to the White House to get him.”
Then, perhaps even worse than the comment itself was the reaction of the panel.

The panel of journalists and political pundits reacts by hysterically laughing, grinning, and commending the comment.
“I don’t know if I can top that,” Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson said while others joyously laughed. “That’s actually a pretty good idea.”
Despite whether it was said jokingly or not, this radical statement follows a dangerous pattern from people who oppose the president. Some people on the Left, since losing the 2016 presidential election, have called for confrontations and violence, which has led to at least one Republican lawmaker and a Trump administration official being forced to leave a restaurant. The rhetoric now includes calling for an uprising or coup against the president.
The Daily Caller reminds that O’Donnell and Trump have maintained a lengthy feud and this is far from the first time she has spoken ill of Trump since he first entered the White House:
She called for Trump to be arrested before his inauguration in January 2017.
The New York Post reported in May that O’Donnell made donations to Democrats that exceeded the legal limit.
She admitted she didn’t realize there was a legal limit, and thought that candidates would automatically refuse the money if it was more than what federal election law allows.
Many people online were disgusted by O’Donnell’s comment:
A @WashingtonPost hack agrees with Rosie O’Donnell that a military insurrection against the President of the United States “seems like a pretty good idea.” Folks, if you let these vermin regain power in the #midterms, you deserve everything you’ll get. pic.twitter.com/D1EzcfXfwP

I am the mother of three active duty military kids- 2 AF, 1 Navy- my kids and their peers fully support their CIC. The idea of this is nuts

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this insurrection talk treason? At the very least it fits the very definition of sedition. Perhaps is someone threw her a box of twinkies she’ll calm down for a while.

Isn’t that called sedition? We use to prosecute people for that crime.

Rosie, please read Article II of our Constitution, we the military work for the Comander and Cheif, only he or Congress can direct military operations. Respect the office and use the tools of our country as they were written if you you want change not hyperbole to gain headlines.

Are they actually planning a military take over of the Govt on tv?!? Isn’t that treason? It is on msnbc so probably no one is watching.

“the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.” Sounds like what Rosie is proposing…
