Former FBI Director James Comey, a lifetime Republican, is officially done with the Republican Party.
As Independent Journal Review reports, Comey admitted he no longer identifies as a Republican during an ABC News podcast. He added, “The Republican party has left me, and many others.”
“I just think they’ve lost their way and I can’t be associated with it,” the former FBI Director said. He said his decision to no longer support the party was “probably over the Trump presidency.”
President Trump has the economy roaring, the stock market has hit several all-time highs, and most Americans are now paying less in taxes and are receiving bonuses at work; North Korea, in a historic first, is beginning to move towards a denuclearized and peaceful Korean peninsula; international trade partners are renegotiating their trade deals with the U.S. to help offset trade deficits because of Trump; and ISIS, which terrorized much of the Middle East for years, is all but defeated.
But the Republican Party is to blame?
“I see the Republican Party, as near as I can tell, reflects now entirely Donald Trump’s values,” Comey said, per the report. “It doesn’t reflect values at all. It’s transactional, it’s ego-driven, it’s in service to his ego.”
Cue the eye-roll from conservatives across the nation.
Here’s what some people online are saying:
Says the guy who wrote a catty book implying he’s a paragon of virtue who was unfairly fired. Huh…

The comments come amid Comey continuing to travel the country promoting his new book, “A Higher Loyalty.” The book contains an evident anti-Trump tone, as do many of the comments Comey has made since he was fired from his post by Trump nearly a year ago.
Comey despises the Republican president and continues to criticize him in public forums.
Comey was fired by President Donald Trump last year, and since the former FBI director has emerged back into the public light, the president has turned up the heat.
During his highly anticipated interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos last week, Comey called Trump “morally unfit to be president.”
He also added fuel to the fire regarding the salacious and mostly unsubstantiated Russian dossier.
“I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether the current president of the United States was with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow in 2013,” said Comey.
As Daily Wire reports, Comey recently was hosted by late night talk show host Stephen Colbert. During the segment, he referred to the administration as “a forest fire.”
Appearing on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Comey also likened his relationship with Trump to a couple of estranged lovers.
“He’s tweeted at me probably 50 times,” Comey said. “I’ve been gone for a year, I’m like the breakup he can’t get over. He wakes up in the morning … I’m out there living my best life, he wakes up in the morning and tweets at me.”
Comey said he was surprised when Trump fired him.
COMEY: I actually was quite surprised, because I thought, ‘I’m leading the Russia investigation.’ Even though our relationship was becoming strained, there’s no way I’m going to get fired or whacked.
COLBERT: Why? Why wouldn’t you get fired?
COMEY: Because that would be a crazy thing to do. Why would you fire the FBI director who is leading the Russia investigation?
COLBERT: Because you’re leading the Russia investigation! I don’t know if you’ve dealt with mob bosses before, but they don’t like to be investigated.
President Trump addressed Comey’s comments in a tweet on Wednesday.
“Slippery James Comey, the worst FBI Director in history, was not fired because of the phony Russia investigation where, by the way, there was NO COLLUSION (except by the Dems)!” he said.
